Shadow Electric tease their 2017 summer project Shimmerlands with the announcement of their first show: Parquet Courts, at the University of Melbourne’s Parkville campus.
Shadow Electric are excited to make the first of many forthcoming announcements, with the news that in conjunction with Mistletone they will host the Melbourne leg of Parquet Courts’ forthcoming Australian tour at their 2017 summer project: Shimmerlands, taking place in collaboration with the University of Melbourne.
The most audacious endeavour presented by the Shadow Electric team yet, Shimmerlands will activate the University of Melbourne campus in Parkville with two months of top-tier music and cinema programming, complemented by an al fresco dining area featuring an extensive range of Melbourne’s finest restaurants. More information on Shimmerlands will be revealed at the end of October.
Already announced for the 2016/2017 incarnation of Falls Festival, Parquet Courts will return to Australia fresh off the release of their critically acclaimed new record, Human Performance, out now on Rough Trade Records/Remote Control, and recent television performances on Conan and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
The Brooklyn band has steadily achieved universal props as one of the best rock bands of their generation whilst staying firmly rooted in the DIY punk aesthetic and philosophy. Human Performance brings expansive sonic experimentation and shining melodic introspection onto matters of the heart, matters of humanity, of identity.
Support on the night will come from a hand-picked lineup of Parquet Courts and Mistletone’s favourite Australian acts, including Tyrannamen, Ausmuteants and Nicky Crane plus DJs Etta & Tilly.
Parquet Courts will perform on Thursday January 5 at Shimmerlands, University of Melbourne, Parkville campus.
